About Us
Our Story
The West Texas Dirt Devils were founded in the winter of 2024 by Brandon Ward with one mission in mind: to build a baseball program rooted in family values, competitive spirit, and real player development. We’re not just another travel ball team chasing trophies. We believe baseball is more than a game—it’s a powerful tool for shaping young men of character. Through this sport, we teach respect, discipline, mental toughness, teamwork, and leadership that will serve our players on and off the field for the rest of their lives.

We began in December 2024 with a single 8U team. Some of those boys had never picked up a bat or thrown a ball before. But they showed up hungry to learn, with unmatched effort and coachability. We focused on tough, consistent practices. We encouraged our kids to also play Little League for extra reps and real-game experience. And through it all, they bought into our philosophy: Earn your spot. Trust the process. Put the team first. By May 2025—just five months in—that same group brought home their first USSSA rings, winning the Silver Bracket in Lubbock. But for us, the trophies weren’t the goal. The growth was. We did it without guest players. No ring-chasing. No shortcuts. Around here, if you didn’t grind through the losses, you don’t just show up for the wins. Our players EARN everything they get. That’s the standard we set.

How we got here
Why we are different
Commitment Over ConvenienceWe’re about developing our own kids. No quick fixes, no mercenary rosters. Loyalty, effort, and growth matter here.
Clear, Honest, and Demanding Coaching. We set high expectations for discipline, intensity, and teamwork. There’s no “daddy ball.” Every player is held accountable the same way.
Family Values at Our Core. We’re not just building better ballplayers—we’re raising better young men. And that includes their families. We have strict “no drama” policies. Everyone here is united around teaching the right lessons and supporting our kids.
Real Player Development. We prioritize:• Effort over ego• Team over talent• Heart and hustle over entitlement• Leadership and accountability over excuses
Balanced, Positive Environment. We demand a lot, but we also know how to have fun and build lasting friendships. Our players represent something bigger than themselves.
Structured, Transparent Program
Consistent practice schedules
Upfront pricing with no hidden fees or surprise fundraisers
Why we are Growing
As our original team started turning heads, we heard from so many families looking for something different. Kids who were overlooked. Parents tired of toxic cultures, win-at-all-cost mentalities, and teams that fell apart at the first sign of adversity. We knew there was a real need for a program focused on development over recruiting, character over rings, and family over ego. That’s why we’re expanding. The Dirt Devils now welcome players ages 7U–14U. In the fall of 2026 we will be accepting ages 6U-18U. We will begin show cases at colleges to help high school players receive more opportunities to be seen by college scouts. Our goal is to give more young ballplayers in West Texas a chance to be part of a true baseball family—one built to last. We’re also looking for the right coaches: mentors and teachers who know how to balance discipline with encouragement, and who want to help kids grow without burning them out. If your family wants more than just another travel team—if you want to join a program that’s committed to raising young men of character and building a lasting community—we’d love to talk. West Texas Dirt Devils: More than baseball. We’re building young men, stronger families, and a better West Texas community. We believe it takes a village to raise a child. And we stand behind that.
